Try tomatoes to lower stroke risk
I've sung the praises of tomatoes to you before. I told you how the heart-healthy antioxidant lycopene, found in tomatoes, can help keep your arteries young. Now, in a study published in the journal Neurology, the unassuming fruit has been linked with a lower stroke risk.
Researchers in Finland found people with the highest amount of lycopene in their blood had a 55 percent lower stroke risk than people with the lowest amounts of lycopene. And it gets even better. When the researchers honed in specifically on strokes due to blood clots that percentage shot up to 59 percent!
