Frozen food fiasco
I've got an important warning about food borne illness for anyone who occasionally snacks on frozen foods. Freezing E. coli contaminated food will not kill the nasty bugs...or many other germs for that matter. In fact, it may even help preserve them.
It's a lesson that at least 24 people in 15 states had to learn the hard way recently when frozen pizzas, cheesesteaks, quesadillas, and other frozen snack food they ate caused them to get violently ill.
Only thoroughly heating food according to package directions will guarantee those nasty bugs that carry food borne illnesses are killed. But, let's be honest, who is going to actually pull out a meat thermometer and check the internal temperature of their microwaved pizza bites in several different spots?
The simplifier solution is to just skip the frozen microwave foods altogether. Instead go with fresh foods you cook the old-fashioned way yourself. Sure it will take a few more minutes, but you'll be rewarded with delicious good for you food instead of a tasteless piece of cardboard that could end up leading to food borne illness.
