Step away from the keyboard! Unhand that remote control! And for goodness sake would you please put down that cell phone!
Trust me, you'll thank me for that advice in just a moment.
A website called KeepingitClean.com has compiled some stomach-churning statistics about those tech devices that we simply can't live without.
Ready to be grossed out? According to Keeping it Clean...
- 16% of cell phones are contaminated with fecal matter...and yes, I do mean poop
- Keyboards have about 60 times more germs than the average toilet seat...that's 150 times over the acceptable limit for bacteria!
- Light switches contain up to 216 bacteria per square inch
- The TV remote is, typically, the dirtiest item in any household...a virtual Petri dish of contagious germs and viruses.
The good news is...
If you're now more than ready to rid your electronics of the filth they've been secretly harboring there are some things you can do about it. One of the most effective, not to mention the simplest, solutions is to just regularly swipe the offending objects with a cloth slightly dampened with warm water and mild dish soap.
Sanitizing cloths made for electronics, rubbing alcohol, and microfiber cleaning cloths all were recommended as well. Just be sure to check the manufactures' directions on your tech devices BEFORE cleaning them.
