Be careful how you store your vitamins
2010-03-25

I like a nice steamy shower every morning. But my vitamins sure don‘t.

In fact, according to a new report published by Purdue University, vitamins kept in humid conditions--even with their lids on tight -- lose their nutritional punch.

And it‘s important to note that vitamins C and B are especially susceptible to this type of nutritional erosion. According to PU scientists, these vitamins can lose their viability in as little as ONE week in a humid room.

This means keep your vitamins out of the bathroom. Store them in the driest spot in your house. Most people think the kitchen is the best choice. However, this room can be almost as humid as your bathroom. A better option might be in the dining room or in your home office.

If you opt to keep yours in the kitchen, just be on the lookout for water damage. If you notice any change in color to your vitamins, throw them out and start over with a new bottle.
